The Cheerleaders Went Quiet

The complete Week 2 recap and Week 3 preview. Two epic comebacks, verified lineup damage, updated power, and no projections pretending to be final scores.

Commissioner-approved opening

We noticed there is a lot of sensitivity going around the league, like a Ralph Tresvant '90s R&B song. Unfortunately, the box scores did not receive the memo. They remain cold, specific, and fully willing to identify who started the wrong quarterback.

Week 2 gave us two epic comebacks, one 40-point organizational distress signal, a 2-0 team surviving on 71, and enough premature celebration to require an event permit. The weekly report will continue reviewing the facts, exposing the decisions, and applying medically appropriate sarcasm.

The feelings are valid. So are the final scores.

Every Matchup, With Receipts

The No Maam comeback gets the feature. Big Dog gets Monday-night billing. Everyone else gets exactly what the lineup earned.

Featured comeback / No Maam 112, No Vaseline 99

James Cook III scored 21 and Amon-Ra St. Brown added 28 on Thursday, giving No Vaseline 49 combined points before most of No Maam's lineup had clocked in. The early lead attracted cheerleaders, backup dancers, and several people pricing parade confetti as if Sunday were an administrative detail. Then Jaxon Smith-Njigba detonated for 38, Chris Olave added 14, Omarion Hampton supplied 15, and No Maam completed an epic comeback. As the margin disappeared, the same cheering section became quieter than a group chat immediately after the receipts arrive. No Vaseline even left Denzel Boston's 18 on the bench while Caleb Douglas scored one, a 17-point swing in a 13-point loss. The celebration was loud, the comeback was louder, and the postgame explanation never arrived. I guess he didn't have the blueprint.

Biggest contributor
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, 38 for No Maam; Cook and St. Brown combined for No Vaseline's 49-point Thursday launch.
Biggest disappointment
DJ Moore scored zero in No Vaseline's starting lineup.
Bench decision
Denzel Boston scored 18 on No Vaseline's bench; replacing Caleb Douglas' one would have changed the winner.
Turning point
Smith-Njigba's 38 turned Thursday's coronation into Sunday's missing-person report.
No Maam showed comeback quality. No Vaseline mixed real production with a result-changing lineup mistake.

Monday night theft / Big Dog Squad 112, La Cosa Nostra 101

La Cosa Nostra built a 101-point case behind Patrick Mahomes' 30, Christian McCaffrey's 18, Travis Kelce's 18, and Harrison Butker's 14. It looked sturdy until Monday night became a two-man demolition permit. Matthew Stafford scored 29 and Davante Adams erupted for 33, combining for 62 and dragging Big Dog from a likely second straight loss to a tie for the week's high score. La Cosa did not collapse so much as get hit by a primetime weather event with Rams uniforms.

Biggest contributor
Davante Adams scored 33 and Matthew Stafford scored 29 for 62 combined Monday-night points.
Biggest disappointment
Kenny Gainwell scored one and Rashid Shaheed scored three for La Cosa Nostra.
Bench decision
Jared Goff scored 31 on La Cosa's bench, but Mahomes scored 30; that one-point swap does not change the result.
Turning point
Stafford and Adams turned Monday Night Football into a hostile takeover.
Big Dog earned the comeback. La Cosa posted a strong score and drew the wrong pair of Monday closers.

The quarterback was sitting right there / The Muscle Team 108, P-TOWN PLAYAS 101

Josh Allen scored 40, Jonathan Taylor added 25, and Dalton Kincaid supplied 15 as The Muscle Team stayed unbeaten. P-TOWN answered with CeeDee Lamb's 29, DeVonta Smith's 19, and a brilliant 20-point Patriots defense pickup. Then the lineup sheet testified: Caleb Williams scored seven while Dak Prescott's 29 watched from the bench. A 22-point quarterback swing decided a seven-point game. Muscle remains real; P-TOWN filed its own appeal and attached the evidence against itself.

Biggest contributor
Josh Allen's 40 was the highest individual score in the league.
Biggest disappointment
Caleb Williams scored seven in P-TOWN's starting quarterback slot.
Bench decision
Dak Prescott scored 29 on the bench; the correct start turns a 108-101 loss into a 123-108 win.
Turning point
The quarterback decision was made before kickoff and kept getting worse all afternoon.
Muscle has two elite weekly scores. P-TOWN was good enough to win and managed itself out of the result.

A response, finally / Bench Don't Kill My Vibe 93, Nabers think I'm selling dope 62

Bench Don't Kill My Vibe answered a league-low Week 1 with 93 and the week's largest victory margin. Ja'Marr Chase led with 19, George Kittle and Brandon Aubrey added 14 each, and five starters reached double figures. Nabers received 17 from Jahmyr Gibbs and 13 from Jayden Daniels, then watched the remaining seven starters combine for 32. That is not supporting production; that is a group project where two people did the slides and everyone else signed the cover page.

Biggest contributor
Ja'Marr Chase led Bench with 19, supported by Kittle and Aubrey at 14 each.
Biggest disappointment
Malik Nabers scored zero while the Nabers organization managed only 62.
Bench decision
Neither bench contained a result-changing answer; Bench won by 31 and Nabers' reserves totaled 13.
Turning point
Bench built usable depth across the lineup while Nabers ran out of scoring after two names.
Bench delivered a credible correction. Nabers is 0-2 with the league's second-lowest point total.

Winning ugly is still spelled winning / Show Me Your TD's 71, DSIZZLE INYAMOUTH34 64

Show Me Your TD's followed 118 with 71 and somehow left Week 2 at 2-0. Jalen Hurts scored 15, Chuba Hubbard added 12, and Trey McBride reached 10. DSIZZLE got 28 from Brock Purdy, but Bijan Robinson, Breece Hall, Drake London, and Jameson Williams combined for 23. SMYTD's did not dominate; it simply located the one opponent scoring fewer points and stood nearby until the clock expired.

Biggest contributor
Brock Purdy's 28 was the game's best individual score, but it came in the loss.
Biggest disappointment
Colston Loveland scored zero for DSIZZLE; Justin Jefferson and Mike Evans scored five each for SMYTD's.
Bench decision
No reasonable bench swap changes the seven-point result for DSIZZLE.
Turning point
DSIZZLE's non-Purdy starters produced only 36 combined points.
SMYTD's record is real; the Week 2 performance was schedule-assisted. DSIZZLE earned the loss.

The floor opened / TP Hulk Smash 67, Black Mamba 40

TP Hulk Smash missed its 98-point projection by 31 and still won comfortably. Lamar Jackson scored 14, Derrick Henry 13, and Aaron Jones Sr. 12, which was enough because Black Mamba answered an 88-point projection with 40. Seven Black Mamba starters scored five or fewer. The matchup did not produce a winner so much as identify who remained conscious longest.

Biggest contributor
Lamar Jackson's 14 led TP Hulk in a low-output win.
Biggest disappointment
Black Mamba's entire starting lineup; Trevor Lawrence's five technically led the skill-position apology tour.
Bench decision
Tee Higgins and Denver D/ST scored nine each on Black Mamba's bench, but no realistic swap covers 27 points.
Turning point
Black Mamba never reached a weekly pace that required TP Hulk to be good.
TP Hulk banked a schedule-assisted win. Black Mamba's 40 is an organizational emergency.
